Welcome to Intarsia Furniture, where tradition meets innovation in the world of furniture. Nanna Aakjær, the granddaughter of the legendary furniture designer Jørgen Aakjær Jørgensen, has restarted the legacy of her grandfather and introduced a new era of furniture under the name Intarsia Furniture.

After an inspiring trip to the Swedish wilderness on New Year's Eve 2017, it became clear that Jørgen Aakjær's furniture classics were too unique to be forgotten. With the support and backing of her family, Nanna Aakjær decided to resume production of some of Møbelintarsia's designs under the new name Intarsia Furniture.

Reviving classic furniture designs

The journey has been a challenging but enriching experience. Hard work has been done to recreate Jørgen Aakjær's classic furniture designs, which unfortunately left no drawings. Through this process, Nanna Aakjær has felt closely connected to her grandfather and his design DNA, which has inspired her to also start creating furniture herself.

A special milestone was the launch of her shelf series, Arcus Shelf, which was met with great praise and recognition. This has only strengthened her passion for furniture design and motivated her to continue creating unique and functional furniture.

Although the road to this point has been challenging, Nanna Aakjær is proud to have re-established Møbelintarsia under the new name Intarsia Furniture in 2019. She is dedicated to continuing her grandfather's legacy and creating timeless furniture that both honors the past and embraces the future.
